The Falco Fixed VOC Detector is available in both pumped and diffusion models.

The technical differences between diffusion-type and pumped-type detectors are as follows.

Diffusion-Type Gas Detector

A diffusion gas detector, as the name suggests, operates on the principle of diffusion. The sensor is exposed to the ambient air and measures the gas using the principle of diffusion. Diffusion refers to the proportional spread of molecules across a given area (from high concentration to low concentration). This means that a diffusion-type gas detector can only measure the gas concentration at the exact location where the device is situated. Therefore, a fixed diffusion-type gas detector can accurately detect gases only at a specific location.

Pump-equipped detectors are equipped with an internal sampling pump. This means that the detector continuously draws in gases. A sampling hose can be attached to extend the detection range. This allows you to take measurements from a safe distance to determine which gases are present and at what concentrations before being exposed to the environment containing the gas. This enables you to conduct a proper risk assessment and make the right choices regarding strategies and personal protective equipment (PPE) based on the measurement results. By positioning the measurement hose correctly, you can take accurate measurements at different heights and map out all risks.

The Standard Falco, available in both Pumped and Diffusion models, is supplied with a 10.6 eV lamp that enables the fixed-mount unit to detect a wide variety of VOC gases. The standard stationary gas detector has four detection ranges: 0–10 ppm, 0–50 ppm, 0–1,000 ppm, and 0–3,000 ppm.

Models with fixed pumps and diffusion detection can also use a 10.0 eV lamp to detect a wider range of TACs (Total Aromatic Compounds), including benzene, with a detection limit of 0.50 ppm.
